Here are some answers to frequently asked questions.
How are you funded?
We are supported just like a traditional missionary. Individuals & churches give to us through special or regular gifts (monthly, quarterly, or annually).
Who manages the financial gifts?
Converge International Ministries is a 501C3 non-profit organization. They receive all our gifts and manage our finances. Our finances are stored in a separate designated escrow account allocated to our specific ministry. These cover our salary, ministry costs, educational expenses directly related to our ministry, ministry tools, & travel expenses.
What percentage of my gift goes to your work?
If you donate to our Converge account, Spears: #199871, 100% of your gift goes to our work. Converge IM takes a 10% admin fee. This fee covers the following services, which directly benefit our ministry: leadership oversight, member care, HR services, financial services & IT services.
What is your specific work in Converge IM missionary training?
Firstly, we are formally mentoring missionaries as they take courses during their mobilization & deployment (pre-field & on-field). This includes faculty one-on-one mentorship & leading cohorts through the program. Secondly, we will be developing their online education platform. This includes building courses in content, graphic design, & visual media.
What type of Theological Work & gospel ministry are your focus?
We are very passionate about these areas for equipping missionaries: the Gospel & all of its benefits, how to study & interpret the Bible, missiology, team collaboration & cross cultural gospel ministry, & the use of tech & the internet in global missions.
What is your specific work in training national indigenous leaders?
We will continue our training of indigenous leaders in the Philippines, Cambodia & beyond. We are teaching courses, creating online visual resources & content & networking.
What is your specific work with Visual Theology?
We will be developing visual theology, visual education for oral / visual learners in non-western academic contexts. This will be used in Converge IM training of missionaries & our training of indigenous leaders. We hope to also influence the church & the missiological field for more visual means of theological education in the global missions context.
Who is your accountability?
Converge IM handles oversight of our work & our specific goals. Converge IM Member Care handles the spiritual & emotional well-being of our family. We have regular meetings with our leader & member care counselor. Olive Street Presbyterian Church and the Philadelphia Metro West Presbytery handles the spiritual oversight of our ministry work that our ministry is within historical, orthodox, Christian, Protestant standards.
Will you still travel?
Yes. Our plan is to travel to visit in-person with the mentee missionaries & our indigenous students & partners around the world. We teach in the cloud. We travel and visit in person for fellowship, relationship building, & networking. We will reside in the USA for the foreseeable future for effective ministry especially as it relates to infrastructure, social media algorithms, cloud storage & syncing, & hardware support.
When do I start giving?
Now. We want to be fully funded by the end of 2024. We currently have ministry work and goals. However, we cannot begin them until we return to a healthy ministry income level.
